A 1903 (Meiji 36) shinie (death portrait) of Onoe Kikugorō V by Toyohara Chikanobu (1838–1912). Onoe Kikugorō V (1844–1903) was a preeminent actor of the Meiji-era kabuki world; this monumental shinie was produced as a memorial following his passing. It is a piece of high archival value as a Meiji-period death portrait.
