About Tokyo Harry
All Ukiyo-e prints handled by our shop are original period prints, primarily from the Edo and Meiji eras. While we also carry a selection of Shin-hanga and contemporary artists, we generally do not deal in reproductions or posters. On rare occasions, we may acquire works by artists whose prints only circulate as vintage reproductions; in such cases, we will clearly state that the item is a reproduction.
Having opened this shop as an extension of my personal passion for collecting, I primarily source pieces that I find compelling from a collector’s perspective.
Ukiyo-e were originally printed in large quantities as affordable mass entertainment during the Edo and Meiji periods. Those that have survived to this day are now traded as high-value items.
For those who appreciate Ukiyo-e but are purchasing for the first time, please understand that as these are printed on Washi paper over 150 years old, it is natural to find wrinkles, foxing, warping, folds, tears, ink bleeding, losses, or backing. Even for the same design by the same artist, prices vary significantly depending on the condition.
Our policy is to proactively disclose and note any major damage rather than hiding it; however, it is impossible to list every minor detail. If you are concerned about slight stains or minor warping, Ukiyo-e may not be the right choice for you. Ukiyo-e is both art and an antique. It is important to approach these pieces with an appreciative and broad-minded perspective.
Given these points, we would appreciate it if customers could avoid returns for personal reasons as much as possible.
Returns are accepted within seven days of the item’s arrival. As this is a mail-order business, we reserve the right to designate items as non-returnable under special provisions, and we will review this policy accordingly. For the time being, returns are possible. However, please consider your purchase carefully, as individuals who frequently return or cancel orders may be blacklisted.
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. Please ensure you contact us to request a return before sending the item back. We will then provide specific instructions and the return address.
Cancellations are simple if requested before the item has shipped; calling us immediately is the fastest way to handle this.
While we do not have a physical storefront, we are available for telephone and online inquiries on weekdays between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM (JST).
We generally ship within one business day after payment confirmation. However, please understand that delays may occur due to timing or courier circumstances.
We value our connection with you and look forward to a long-lasting relationship.
