This yakusha-e (actor print) depicts the popular kabuki\/gesaku characters \u201cKomori no Yasu\u201d and \u201cKirare Yosa,\u201d and is also a valuable example of irezumi-e (tattoo imagery). Originally a triptych including \u201cOtomi,\u201d this item comprises only the two sheets of Yasu and Yosa. The figures\u2019 expressions have a distinctive humor and vitality, and feel strikingly modern.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Artwork Details<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Komori no Yasu to Kirare Yosa&#8221; (1882) by Arakawa Chikashige (dates unknown). A vivid yakusha-e (actor print) depicting the beloved kabuki\/gesaku characters &#8220;Bat Yasu&#8221; and &#8220;Slashed Yosa&#8221; \u2014 also notable as a rare example of irezumi-e (tattoo imagery). Originally part of a triptych including &#8220;Otomi,&#8221; this set consists of two sheets only.
